Unkind Cuts: Axing the Branch Lines

The UK’s railways were never the same after the infamous cuts of Dr Beeching. His aggressive plan swept away branch lines and stations that connected thousands of rural communities. The countryside served by British Railway’s Eastern Region was particularly hard hit.

The rare archive footage in this amazing film shows how some of the now forgotten lines, rail companies and stations helped trade and social connections before the good Doctor brought down his axe.
